Hope by Guy Austin

This work combines a painting with a poem. Together they express darkness and despair shifting to a tentative sense of hope. This is reflected in the colour choices and in the movement from nocturnal thoughts to the promise of dawn.

I am an expressionist painter, using form and especially colour to express emotions. I am not interested in realistic reproduction, but in capturing and generating feelings. I paint in acrylics on canvas and wood, sometimes combining this with collage or with my own writing.
