Respite and Disquiet by Oormila Vijayakrishnan Prahlad

RespiteDisquiet
9″x6″ each, gouache, pen, inks, waste paper collage

I have been painting and journalling throughout this period of lockdown, building up a body of work that gives visual and poetic expression to various oscillating emotional states, which examines closely these strange times of the “new normal”. Often it has been an exploration of feelings of anxiety and distress. Then there are moments when I feel hopeful that the world will emerge from this tragedy enlightened, that we will re-evaluate our relationship with the natural world, that a new and harmonious way of living will emerge.
